Macra na Feirme
His keen interest and deep commitment to family farming was forged while he worked with Macra na Feirme. Working with farmers throughout Ireland, from Malin to Mizen and from Westport to Wicklow, he saw at first hand the extraordinary characteristics of family farm members - mothers, fathers, sons and daughters - with their belief, determination, selflessness and resourcefulness in dealing with difficulties and problems inside the farm gate and within agricultural industry nationally and internationally.

When the Going Got Tough
He was inspired by and felt privileged to witness closely the dynamic in the Irish family farm. He saw 'how the tough got going when the going got tough'.

Recent Difficulties
The difficulties and pain experienced by a number of family farms in recent times, predominantly in the areas of communication and relationships, which in many cases could probably have been avoided and/or alleviated, has drawn Jim and his colleagues to offer the services of Keep Farming On to farm families.
